"Alcheringa means dreamtime, time of creation of the natural word in the traditional aboriginal language. We chose this name for our bed and breakfast accommodation facility as it perfectly summed up what it’s like to spend time here at our waterfront apartments.

It’s taken us over 20 years to create what many consider to be, one of Sutherland Shire’s most idyllic holiday locations. Tourists from all corners of the globe have experienced not just the accommodation, but the warmth and friendliness that we offer to all our guests. Initially we looked at providing short term accommodation for people wanting to get away for a couple of days. Short term accommodation quickly progressed into long term accommodation as guests decided two or three days just wasn’t enough time to unwind and fully enjoy the experience that Alcheringa offers.

People working away from home found that this was the perfect business accommodation, located so close to Sydney and within walking distance of bus and rail facilities. With a great choice of restaurants and clubs just up the road, it quickly becomes a working holiday.
International holiday makers really caught us by surprise with guests arriving from all around the world to stay at our private holiday accommodation getaway. Some international guests are booking a year in advance to secure their spot, it’s very humbling.

The Sutherland Shire is one of Sydney’s remaining truly Australian regions, untouched by the urban sprawl of inner city suburbs. Cronulla beach, Kurnell, The Royal National Park and the Port Hacking River are but a few of the attractions that make “The Shire” so special.

We have been truly blessed with a little piece of heaven on earth here at Alcheringa and we feel it only fair to share what we have with all the people on God’s great earth.
